Tax Preparation Services
According to a study released by the US Government's General Accounting Office last year, most taxpayers (77% of 71 million taxpayers) believe they benefited from using a professional tax preparer. A tax headache or IRS nightmare is only one mistake away. Why handle your taxes yourself when you have a local trusted advisor.
For individuals facing the daunting task of filing both federal and state income tax returns, I provide comprehensive assistance. I begin by gathering all necessary financial information through a detailed questionnaire, ensuring a thorough understanding of your unique situation. My expertise allows me to navigate complex tax laws and identify potential deductions and credits, maximizing your return. Throughout the process, I remain available for any questions or clarifications, aiming to make your tax filing experience as smooth and beneficial as possible.
Small business owners often find tax season particularly challenging, given the intricacies of federal and state tax regulations. My service in this domain starts with an in-depth review of your business's financial records. I then work diligently to prepare accurate and compliant tax returns, taking into account all relevant business deductions and tax credits. My goal is to minimize your tax liability while ensuring full compliance with tax laws. I also offer advice on best financial practices for small businesses to optimize their tax positions for future years.
For businesses operating in Texas, the preparation of franchise reports is a critical and complex task. I specialize in this area, beginning with a detailed analysis of your business’s annualized revenue. This allows me to accurately calculate the franchise tax owed, in line with Texas state regulations. I guide you through the entire process, from document preparation to final submission, ensuring your business meets all state compliance requirements. Additionally, I provide strategic advice on how to efficiently manage your tax obligations in the context of Texas’s specific business tax structure.
A non-filer is any client who is required to file a tax return and hasn’t filed in two or more years. I will have you fill out a basic information sheet so I can prepare a power of attorney for tax purposes and can then submit to the IRS. From there I will be able to run a compliance check (find out what returns are required to be filed) and be able to pull any wage and income transcripts and account transcripts. I find that typically when a client hasn’t filed in a while, a lot of times they are missing tax forms and documents. A wage and income transcript allows me to make sure that all items of income and withholding are accounted for. An account transcript will show meany activity (estimated payments you made, credits to your account, penalties and interest) in your account for the year.

If you have filed a late tax return, paid your taxes after April 15th (even if you filed an extension), mis-reported something or accidentally left something off entirely then you most likely have had penalties assessed by the IRS. Owing the IRS feels bad enough but having to pay penalties on top can seem downright unfair. All in all, everyone makes mistakes sometimes. The IRS will abate penalties if you qualify for a first-time abatement or if we can demonstrate reasonable cause.
If I have power of attorney on file for a client with the IRS, I will receive a copy of any IRS notices they receive. This typically provides clients with an added layer of comfort knowing I am monitoring their tax matters and can oftentimes proactively work to address any issues or concerns before the client has a chance to open the notice.
A non-filer is any client who is required to file a tax return and hasn’t filed in two or more years. When you get behind, it is easy to want to jump behind a rock and try to hide. Dealing with the stress of knowing your behind and not knowing your fate can be agonizing. I will have you fill out a basic information sheet so I can prepare a power of attorney. From there I will be able to find out what returns are required to be filed, pull any wage and income information, and begin to piece your returns together.
